About us

UT Teen Health promotes adolescent health and wellness by providing medically accurate sexual health information to the community. Since 2003, we have offered sex education enriched with positive youth development learning experiences for teens in San Antonio, Texas and surrounding areas. The education is founded on medical, legal, psychological, and socioeconomic information regarding teen sexual activity.

Most recently, the UT Health San Antonio entered into two cooperative agreements from the Department of Health and Human Services. The program is committed to providing medically accurate, age appropriate, culturally competent information to the community.

Our goals are to support healthy decision making among adolescents and their families, decrease high school drop-out rate, and decrease teen birth rate.

What we do

UT Teen Health Educators provide health education programming in San Antonio on topics of adolescent health, healthy relationships, risk behaviors, and sexual health. Our training conferences are designed to mobilize educators and community workers with accurate information to use when talking to adolescents about sexual health issues. Key features of conferences include STD update, laws pertaining to teen sexual activity, and instruction on effective teaching strategies, classroom activities, the latest on contraception, and handling student questions.

Since 2003 our program has been evaluating the impact of a community saturation approach to Teen Pregnancy Prevention in and around Bexar County in San Antonio, Texas. Current work is focused on training, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based programs to continuously improve efforts in our community.

The UT Teen Health supports teens in building healthy relationships, making healthy decisions, and promotes primary prevention of teen pregnancy. UT Teen Health gives teens the tools they need to make sexual decisions that support, not hinder positive future selves. Learn more about UT Teen Health Teens in Action
